Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the task, including the graphs and the survey tables. You provide a clear overview and select key features, such as the rise in fines and the stability of accident rates. However, the response is incomplete, as it ends mid-sentence in the final paragraph. This prevents a full development of the final point. To improve, ensure you complete all sentences and provide a cohesive summary of all data points. While the main trends are identified, the analysis of the survey data is cut off, which limits the overall effectiveness of the task completion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover'. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete final sentence. Additionally, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'after installing speed cameras fine road accident remained constant'. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that all ideas are fully expressed will help achieve a higher band score for coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'drastically', 'revenue', and 'fatality'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'accident case' instead of 'accident rates' or 'don't have their opinion' instead of 'expressed no opinion'. There are also minor spelling and punctuation errors, such as 'eight year period' (missing hyphen) and spacing issues before punctuation. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and proofreading for minor mechanical errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the fines has increased', 'road accident remains constant') and missing articles ('in the 8th year', 'the eight year period'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent punctuation will significantly improve your accuracy.
