Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to accurately interpret the provided data. You have misread the time period as 'eighty years' instead of 'eight years' and misinterpreted the units and categories. For instance, you describe the fines in 'pounds' and 'millions', whereas the graph likely refers to the number of drivers or incidents. Furthermore, you have not provided a clear overview of the main trends, which is essential for a Band 6 or higher. The information is presented in a way that does not reflect the actual data provided in the prompt, leading to a significant failure to address the task requirements accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak due to the inaccurate interpretation of the data. While you use some cohesive devices like 'As we can notice' and 'In first ten years', the connections between sentences often feel mechanical. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall structure lacks a cohesive summary or a logical flow that guides the reader through the trends effectively. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'number of', 'kept increasing', and 'around'. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'genrate' (spelling error) and 'gas to do nothing' (likely a typo for 'has to do nothing'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the data with precision. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more varied and precise terminology related to trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a significant proportion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('in first ten years'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence structures. For example, 'the number of the drivers to violate' is grammatically incorrect. While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often faulty, which can cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before nouns. Proofreading for simple errors like 'genrate' and 'gas' is also essential.
