Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main trends in the graphs but fails to adequately address the survey tables. The instructions explicitly mention tables showing survey results, yet these are only mentioned in a vague concluding sentence without any data analysis. The overview is missing, which is a critical requirement for Task 1. While the trends for fines and fatalities are identified, the description is somewhat imprecise (e.g., 'straight to the peak'). To improve, you must provide a clear summary of the overall trends in an introductory paragraph and ensure all data sets provided in the prompt are analyzed with specific figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between the description of the graphs and the survey data is abrupt and lacks a cohesive link. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often misused or mechanical, such as 'starting from the speed camera fines' and 'Althrough the cameras were installed'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of information. Improved use of linking words and better paragraph structure would significantly enhance the coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains several errors that occasionally impede communication. There are frequent spelling mistakes, such as 'cought' (caught), 'minimam' (minimum), 'growring' (growing), 'straght' (straight), 'miner' (minor), and 'agian' (again). The range of vocabulary is basic, relying on repetitive phrasing like 'number of accidents' and 'peak point'. To achieve a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'plummeted', or 'remained stable', and ensure accurate spelling of common terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies on a limited range of sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the table below show'), incorrect verb forms ('fines were cought'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces placed incorrectly before commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence variety and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is essential.
