SPEED CAMERA FINES and ROAD ACCIDENT FATALITIES
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The graph depicts the overall statistics of speed camera fines and road accident fatalities per year. speed camera fines per year shows increase in the fine ranging from 200,000 to 1400,000 fines as highest fine. This shows that the overall behaviour of people that violates the law and thus resulted in penalities . The other graph shows the road accident fatalities per year which is average between 3000 to 3500. The graph shows usual incline and decline the deaths . BY above information i consider that speed cameras fines is the good way to tackle road accident problems but still its not very impactful as there is not much affect in fatalities. in my view main reason of installing camera is basically more of generating revenue and less of improving road safety. Moreover, in my perspective there are very less cameras to ensure the safety of the road and resulting in more accidents.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to address the task requirements for an Academic Task 1 report. Instead of objectively describing the data, you have provided personal opinions, such as 'in my view main reason of installing camera is basically more of generating revenue'. Task 1 requires a neutral summary of the trends and key features of the provided graphs and tables. You have also failed to mention the survey data entirely. By focusing on subjective interpretation rather than reporting the data, you have not fulfilled the core purpose of the task. To improve, focus on identifying the main trends, comparing the figures, and omitting personal commentary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks a clear structure. It is written as a single paragraph, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of information. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas; for example, the transition between the description of the graphs and your personal opinion is abrupt. The referencing is also unclear, as you refer to 'the other graph' without specifying what it represents. To improve, use clear paragraphing—one for an overview and one or two for detailed data analysis—and use linking words like 'in contrast', 'furthermore', or 'consequently' to guide the reader through your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You use basic terms like 'increase', 'shows', and 'good way', which do not demonstrate the range required for higher bands. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'behaviour of people that violates the law' and 'not much affect in fatalities'. The phrasing is often informal and imprecise. To improve, aim to use more academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'a significant rise', or 'a downward trend', and ensure you use the correct parts of speech (e.g., 'effect' vs 'affect').
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'speed camera fines per year shows increase' (subject-verb agreement), 'resulted in penalities' (spelling), and 'there are very less cameras' (incorrect quantifier). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before periods and inconsistent capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and incorporating a wider variety of complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or passive voice, which are essential for formal report writing.
