Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task by addressing both the graph regarding speed camera fines and fatalities, and the table presenting survey opinions. However, there are some inaccuracies in reporting the data. For instance, the student states that the minimum amount of fine was '200,000' and mentions 'the accidents possibilities was also fall from fourth to six years', which mixes up details and contains awkward phrasing. The overview is somewhat overly simplistic and lacks a fully clear synthesis of the main trends. While all parts are addressed, the lack of precision in describing specific data points and minor misinterpretations of the visual information place this in the Band 6 range.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The text has a coherent overall arrangement, divided into an introduction, an overview paragraph, and a body paragraph addressing the table. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. Words like 'Furthermore', 'Similarly', and 'On the other hand' are used, but logical progression between sentences is occasionally hindered by abrupt shifts in ideas. For example, moving from the graph trends directly to individual opinions lacks a smooth transitional sentence. Paragraphing is attempted, but the third paragraph clumps together too many distinct survey findings without adequate structural separation, leading to a crowded presentation of ideas. These issues align with a Band 6 score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. The student attempts less common vocabulary such as 'incorporation', 'proportion', and 'revenue', but also makes noticeable word choice errors, such as 'arrested due to fast driving' (drivers are fined or caught, not arrested by speed cameras), 'accidents possibilities', and '56% people's perspective is that there are many number'. There are also awkward phrasings like '3% reviewed they don't know'. These inaccuracies and limited control over collocation restrict the score to Band 5.5, though communication is generally maintained.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward structures throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement errors ('the accidents possibilities was also fall'), incorrect prepositions ('in last year' instead of 'in the last year'), and awkward relative clauses ('there are those who don't know about the number of safety cameras'). Punctuation and article usage are also inconsistent ('the 8 year of period'). These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher band.
