The graphs below show the number of drivers in Britain who have been caught driving too fast by speed cameras placed on roads, and the number of people killed in road accidents, over an eight-year period since the introduction of speed cameras. The tables show the results of a survey on people's opinions on speed cameras.

Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.

Overall, the number of speed camera fines increased over the period, while the figure of road accident fatalities fluctuated. Despite this, a majority of people surveyed believed that there were too many speed cameras.

The number of drivers caught speeding rose steadily approximately 200,000 in Year 1 to around 400,000 around in Year 3. It then increased more gradually to about 600,000 in Year 5 , before rising sharply around 800,000 in Year 6. The figure countinued to climb, reaching roughly 1,200,000 in 7 year and 1,600,000 in 8 year.

The survey results show that 60% of respondents did not believe that speed camers reduced the number of accidents, compared with 32% who thought they did. On the other hand, 71% believed that they installed the cameras to raise revenue, while 26% thought the main reason was to improve road safety.
