IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The graphs below show the number of drivers in Britain who have been caught driving too fast by speed cameras placed on roads, and the number of people killed in road accidents, over an eight-year period since the introduction of speed cameras. The tables show the results of a survey on people's opinions on speed cameras.
Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.
SPEED CAMERA FINES and ROAD ACCIDENT FATALITIES
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The graph demonstrates the statistics of instances made by drivers on overspeeding through the speed cameras installed by the Britain road authorities and data of people in numbers died by road hits. It shows the from the time of placement of these speed cameras.
The graph bifurcates the data into speed camera fines and the number of casulties due to overspeeding of drivers. It mentions that throughout the eight years number of fines have been massively increased as more of the drivers tend to overspeed despite the placement of camera at the road. On the contrary the amount of fatalities had been remained at almost same average of occurance as it remained between 3000 to 3500 over all the eight years.
Furthermore, a survery is presented for people opinion about the impact of speed cameras, 60% percent of survey populations thinks that they do not reduce the instance of accidents, 32% are in favor of the reductions occuring and 8% say they dont know. Meanwhile 71% also think that the cameras are installed for revenue generation rather than to improve safety as 26% of them think, and just 3% chosed unawareness of the issue.
Lastly the more of the population thinks e.g 56% that there are too many cameras installed on the road, while 19% thinks that these are too few, and 17% are of the view that these are in right quantity. Just 8% do not have any knowledge abou the numbers.
