Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student attempts to cover all parts of the task by describing both the line graphs and the survey tables, providing an overview and specific data points. However, there are several inaccurate data readings and claims. For instance, the student states that accident fatalities reached 3,600 by the eighth year, whereas the chart shows around 3,350. Furthermore, the description of the trends contains minor inaccuracies. While an overview is attempted, it lacks precision. Consequently, this performance aligns with Band 5.5, as it addresses the task only partially with some unclear or incorrect data selection.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The report is divided into logical paragraphs covering the introduction, overview, line graphs, and survey results. However, cohesive devices are sometimes awkwardly used or repetitive (e.g., beginning multiple sentences with 'While' or abrupt time transitions like 'By the eight-year'). The referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by phrasing issues and minor structural lapses. This performance best fits Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'delineats', 'steady pace', and 'rasing revenue'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors ('accidentends', 'delineats', 'thir', 'fisrt', 'eight-year', 'rasing') and word choice inaccuracies. Vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main message, but errors in spelling and collocation occasionally cause minor strain for the reader. This corresponds to Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'While, the table delineats the results...' and 'After the speed cameras were introduced, number of of people killed...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring multiple errors including missing articles ('number of people'), incorrect prepositions ('due road accidentends'), and tense inconsistencies ('has rose'). These errors are frequent enough to affect readability, though they do not completely impede communication, fitting Band 5.0 descriptors.
