Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the prompt by describing the line graphs regarding speed camera fines and road accident fatalities, as well as summarising the survey tables on public opinion. An overview is attempted in the second paragraph, noting the general upward trend in fines and accidents, though the expression is somewhat disjointed. While the main trends are identified—such as the rise in fines reaching 1,600,000 in the eighth year—some of the specific figures and data descriptions contain inaccuracies when compared against the visual data (for example, reporting fatalities starting at 3,000 rather than 3,150). Furthermore, the summary of public opinions lacks precision regarding the exact survey percentages. Nevertheless, the response presents a broad outline of the visual information.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The report is divided into four paragraphs, attempting an introduction, an overview, and separate body paragraphs for the graphs and tables. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by poor referencing and unclear cohesive links. For instance, the second paragraph is ungrammatically fragmented ('while the people opinion on speedy cameras...'), making it difficult to follow the overall summary. Cohesive devices are used mechanically or are missing, and sentences often run together awkwardly, such as 'In the first year there was only 200,000 on fines, later recorded high fines but in the sixth year...' Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires better transitional phrases to guide the reader smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for a basic description of the charts, including terms such as 'line graph', 'fines', 'accidents', and 'survey'. However, the range is limited and repetition occurs frequently (e.g., repeating 'accounted with' and 'fines'). There are notable word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'places on the road' instead of 'placed on roads', 'people died on road accidents' instead of 'fatalities in road accidents', and 'erevenue purpose' instead of 'revenue generation'. Spelling errors also appear, such as 'incresed', 'continuous', and 'pridectable'. These lexical limitations and errors restrict the score to Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the number of fines and accidents were increased') and tense inconsistencies. Many sentences lack structural integrity or contain run-on clauses linked improperly by commas, such as 'On the fouth year it decline to 3,000 and further year it increased and at the eight year it was accounted with 3,400.' Punctuation and capitalization are also erratic, with sentences starting with lowercase letters ('in the first year', 'people opinions'). These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the score from reaching a higher band.
