Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The candidate attempts to address the prompt by describing the line graphs regarding speed camera fines and road fatalities. However, there is a significant task-fulfillment failure: the student completely ignores the survey tables regarding people's opinions on speed cameras, which form a major part of the visual data. Furthermore, the description of the line graphs contains inaccurate data reporting, such as stating 'speed camera fines was approximately 2 lakh' (the term 'lakh' is also inappropriate for British data) and misinterpreting the final figure as 16 lakh instead of 1.6 million. The overview mentions rising fines and fluctuating fatalities, but overall the response falls short of fully covering all parts of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text is organized into four paragraphs with a basic introduction, an overview, and separate body paragraphs for each graph. However, logical progression is hindered by poor cohesive devices and unnatural transitional phrases like 'Looking at the information in more details' and 'Likewise, In fifth year'. Paragraphing is attempted, but referencing between sentences is occasionally confusing. The overall arrangement shows some coherence, but the mechanical and inaccurate use of cohesive ties keeps the response at a lower band.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The lexical range is limited and inadequate for an Academic Task 1 report. The student uses non-standard terms such as 'lakh' instead of millions, and makes frequent spelling and word-choice errors, including 'illustarte', 'sharpely rise', 'flucluated', and 'payed'. There are also awkward collocations like 'reached at peak' and 'slightly growth'. While the general topic is understandable, the frequent lexical inaccuracies and limited vocabulary range constrain the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex or past-tense narrative structures frequently result in errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('speed camera fines was') and incorrect verb forms ('has slightly growth', 'had been reduced'). Punctuation and capitalization errors are also present (e.g., 'At the beginning... then, it increased'). Frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the score.
