Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The student attempts to describe the main trends from the charts, noting the rise in speed camera fines and mentioning fluctuations in road accident fatalities. However, the response completely omits the second part of the prompt, which requires describing the tables showing survey results on people's opinions of speed cameras. Furthermore, there are several inaccurate readings of the data, such as stating that the number of fines reached '1600000' in year 8 when the visual shows 1.6 million accurately, but misreporting earlier years and misinterpreting the fatality figures which actually hover between 3,100 and 3,350 rather than decreasing significantly as stated. Due to the complete omission of the survey data and inaccurate data representation, the task is only partially addressed, earning a band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response suffers severely from a lack of proper paragraphing, written as one continuous, unbroken block of text instead of distinct paragraphs for the introduction, overview, and body details. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as stringing clauses together with commas ('while in year 4 it reached...', 'while from year 6 to 8...'). There is no clear overall progression or logical grouping of information. Referencing is weak and mechanical, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of data. This falls squarely under the criteria for band 4.0 due to the lack of paragraphing and poor cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently reusing terms like 'number', 'year', 'increased', and 'speed cameras'. There are numerous word choice and spelling errors, such as 'dirver' instead of driver, 'fatalititie' instead of fatalities, and awkward phrasing like 'fined 200000 driver over fast driving'. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'fatalities' and 'significantly increased', the high frequency of lexical inaccuracies and spelling mistakes hinders comprehension and restricts the score to a band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The student demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on lengthy, run-on sentences joined by conjunctions or commas without proper terminal punctuation or clause separation (e.g., 'Due to installation of speed cameras on the road side the number of fined significantly increased from year first to year 8 and the number of road accident were first decreased...'). There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('number of road accident were') and incorrect word forms ('the number of fined'). Complex structures are attempted but are consistently faulty, justifying a band 4.0.
