IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The graphs below show the number of drivers in Britain who have been caught driving too fast by speed cameras placed on roads, and the number of people killed in road accidents, over an eight-year period since the introduction of speed cameras. The tables show the results of a survey on people's opinions on speed cameras.

Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.

SPEED CAMERA FINES and ROAD ACCIDENT FATALITIES

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The line graphs delineate the total number of fast driving individuals and people being dead in road accidents in the United Kingdom after installments of cameras, identifying speed of cars for the given period. The table gives information about the study conducted to find the opinion of individuals on these cameras.

Overall, the number of people exceeding their speeds showed a continous and significant increase from start to end of give time period. However, the number of dying people in road tragedies showed remained fluctuated. Highest number of people agreed that speed cameras has not lessen the road accidents and believe that it was mainly to earn money through fines noticing the presence of exceeded cameras on roads.

In terms of fine issued for high speed, it kept on increasing by double in each year, staring from 200,000 in first year and ending at 1,600,000. In contrast, the number of dying individuals on road showed continous upas and down till first six years and in last two its raised.

Considering the surveys, highest number of people (60%) gave opinion that cameras did not decreased the accidents happening on roads and there are too many cameras (56%) that have been installed just for profity purposes (71%).
