IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The graphs below show the number of drivers in Britain who have been caught driving too fast by speed cameras placed on roads, and the number of people killed in road accidents, over an eight-year period since the introduction of speed cameras. The tables show the results of a survey on people's opinions on speed cameras.

Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.

SPEED CAMERA FINES and ROAD ACCIDENT FATALITIES

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The provided graph and survery illustrates the amount of people killed as well as reckless drivers caught by fast speed cameras which were placed on the roads over the period of 8 years in Britian.

Overall, the number of fines bestowed upon people driving recklessly increased throughout the provided time period, where as the number of deaths in road accidents were almost constant. Moreover, three important surveys were conducted which consisted of yes/no/don't know.

The speed camera fine graph indicates an constant incline in year 1 from 200,000 fines to almost 600,000 fines in year 5. Furthermore, it has a marginally high increase in year 6 reaching almost 800,000 fine tickets. After year 6 it had a huge upsurge following the later years and reaching marginally more then 1.6 million fines at 8 years time frame. On the other hand, the road accident fatalities graph provides information, the number of death were at 3200 in year 1. It had a slight increase reaching almost 3400 deaths in year 3 and then dropping to almost 3100 in year 4, while it dropped it increased steadily throughout the remaining time, it reached 3300 by year 8.

In constrast, the surverys done provided insights regarding whether speed camera reduced the accidents on which 32% of people said yes, while 60% of them said no and 8% did not knew. Moreover, questioned arised regarding the reason for installing camera on with 26% said yes, 71% checked no and 3% did not knew. Lastly, total number of speed cameras on road to which 56% of people said too many, 19% said too few, 17% said it about right and 8% did not knew.
