Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.
SPEED CAMERA FINES and ROAD ACCIDENT FATALITIES
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The graphs and table illustrate the total number of fast driving people punished with fine and the numbers of deaths on roads in United Kingdom for the given period of eight years.
Overall, the proportion of individuals, fined by speed cameras showed a continous growth throughout the period given. However, fatalities on roads exhiboted ups and downs with very little increase. The majority of people belived that, speed cameras are in excess to their actual need with no pronounced effect on decreasing the accident ratio and are mainly for raising the money gained by fines.
In terms of financial penulties, there was a double rise starting from 200,000 to [redacted phone] throughout eight years. In addition, the number of mortalities showed flactuated behaviour, starting over 31,000 deaths in first year and ending approximately at 33,000 people.
In contrast, the survey of people opinion showed 60% of individuals consider that cameras had no impact on reducing the deaths. Furthermore, 70% participating poeple think that, cameras were used to enhance the revenue through fine. The excessive installment of camera is considered by 56% people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The student attempts to address all parts of the prompt by describing both the graphs and the survey tables. An appropriate overview is provided, highlighting the upward trend in speed camera fines, the relative stability of fatalities, and the main survey findings regarding public opinion. However, there are some data inaccuracies and misreadings in the body paragraphs. For instance, the student states that road accident fatalities started over '31,000 deaths' and ended near '33,000', whereas the actual figures on the y-axis are around 3,150 and 3,350. Furthermore, the survey data is slightly misquoted (stating 70% instead of 71% for revenue). Despite these numerical reading errors, the main trends and proportions are captured, aligning best with a Band 5.5 descriptor.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response is organized into four logical paragraphs: an introduction, an overview, a body paragraph covering the graph trends, and a body paragraph covering the survey results. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'However', and 'In contrast' are utilized to structure the response. However, paragraphing and logical progression are slightly hindered by awkward phrasing and minor mechanical linking. Referencing is generally clear, though the transition between ideas can feel abrupt at times. This performance is consistent with a Band 6.0 descriptor.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student attempts some less common vocabulary items such as 'proportion', 'exhiboted' (exhibited), 'penulties' (penalties), and 'flactuated' (fluctuated). However, there are numerous spelling errors and awkward lexical choices throughout the text, including 'fast driving people', 'money gained by fines', and 'excessive installment of camera'. Vocabulary control is limited, resulting in words that impede natural flow and clarity in places. The range is adequate for the task but constrained by errors, fitting a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as introductory subordinate clauses ('In terms of financial penulties, there was...'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak due to frequent errors in word formation, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions (e.g., 'punished with fine', 'on United Kingdom', 'people opinion', 'participating poeple'). Punctuation also contains unnecessary commas interrupting natural sentence flow. Because frequent errors cause some difficulty and prevent a high proportion of error-free sentences, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.
