Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, successfully reporting the main trends from the line graphs and summarizing the key results from the survey tables. An overview is attempted, stating that the trend increased exponentially and noting people's general skepticism about cameras reducing accidents. However, some aspects of the visual data are under-developed or inaccurately described. For instance, the claim that both fines and accidents increased exponentially is inaccurate for the road accident fatalities, which actually remained relatively stable with minor fluctuations between 3,100 and 3,350 over the eight-year period. Furthermore, certain survey statistics are slightly misreported or awkwardly integrated. To reach a higher level, the overview needs to be more accurate and comprehensive, capturing the stark contrast between the surging fine numbers and the flat trend of fatalities.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a discernible introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding remark, reflecting a logical progression of information from the graphs to the survey results. Paragraphing is utilized to separate different visual elements, moving from the line graphs to the survey tables. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. The transition phrases used to link ideas, such as 'In first graph it represents' and 'The second part showcase about the survery result', feel clumsy and lack natural flow. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, and better use of cohesive devices would make the relationships between the data points much clearer and more seamless.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'exponentially', 'fatalities', and 'revenue'. However, there are notable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, word form, and collocation that prevent a higher score. Examples of lexical errors include 'trend increased exponentially each year comprise of fines', 'installed cameras cannot reduced the accidents', 'survery result', and 'preceive to improve road safety'. Additionally, noun-verb agreement and word-formation errors (such as using 'preceive' instead of 'perceive' or 'perception') recur throughout the text. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors involving verb tenses, voice, and prepositions within grammatical patterns. Examples include 'The line graphs illustrates' (subject-verb agreement), 'speed camera which give an upward trend, starts from' (faulty relative clause and verb tense integration), 'it range covers', and 'there are too many camera installed' (pluralization). Punctuation and article usage are also shaky in places. While these errors rarely completely obscure the meaning, they are persistent enough to keep the writing at this level, as error-free sentences are not frequent enough to sustain a higher grade.
