SPEED CAMERA FINES and ROAD ACCIDENT FATALITIES
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The given line graphs display the number of individuals caught on camera driving above the speed limit and the amount of lives lost due to this, in the UK over the span of 8-years. The tabular data provides the questionairre responses on what people think about the speed cameras.
Overall, speed camera fines have climbed up over the years and reached a peak in the 8-th year. While, the data on road collision based deaths has shown a consistent high value across all years. The survey answers indicate that generally people believe speed cameras to be useless for preventing accidents and are just there to raise revenue. Nonetheless, citizens were not much aware about the number of installed cameras.
The number of over-speeding fines experienced a surge in the last 3 years, but for the 5 years befor that the increment sen was quite minimal. Although the values observed for deaths by vehicle crashes is almost constant, a dip can be recorded in the first, fourth and sixth years to around 3,000 fatalities after camera installation.
The questionairre answers on the queries reveals that 60% members of society do not believe road cameras lessen the amount of collisions occuring. Also, 71% of people hold the idea that purpose of cameras are to grow the economic spending. Similary, there are more than half responses who think there are too many cameras on road, while the remaining half has varied answer. There are a minimal proportion of are unaware of any answer.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting on both the line graphs and the survey tables, which satisfies the core requirements for an overview. However, some aspects are under-developed or superficially treated. For instance, while the trend for fines is noted as climbing to a peak in the eighth year, the description of the road accident fatalities lacks precision regarding specific figures, relying instead on a general claim of consistency. Furthermore, the overview captures the main trends adequately, but the integration of the survey data could be more deeply analysed rather than simply listed, placing the response securely in the middle band for task response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The report presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the visual trends to the survey results. Paragraphing is utilised appropriately to separate the introduction, the graph descriptions, and the survey findings. However, cohesion at times feels mechanical or slightly faulty, particularly with transitional phrases such as "While, the data on..." and "Similary, there are...", which disrupt the natural flow. Referencing is generally clear, but occasional clunky connectors prevent the response from achieving a more fluid organizational structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as "fatalities", "questionairre", and "revenue". However, there are noticeable spelling errors, such as "questionairre" and "Similary", alongside minor word-choice inaccuracies like "increment sen" and "grow the economic spending". These lexical slips and spelling mistakes do not impede overall communication, but they restrict the score, as they demonstrate an inconsistent control of precision and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and subordinate structures reasonably well. There are some grammatical and punctuation errors present, such as "for the 5 years befor that" (spelling/preposition usage), "the increment sen was", and issues with subject-verb agreement in phrases like "there are a minimal proportion of are unaware". Nevertheless, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the intended meaning without severe difficulty.
