SPEED CAMERA FINES and ROAD ACCIDENT FATALITIES
Student answer (Band 4.5)
The graphs illustrate that the number of drivers in Britain who have been caught driving too fast by speed cameras placed on roads, and the number of people killed in road accidents, over an eight-year period since the introduction of speed cameras. The tables show the results of a survey on people's opinions on speed cameras.
To begin with, in year 1 the speed camera fine was 2 00,000 then every year they were double from year 1 to year 6 whereas in year 7 they rise up in this year and reach at 1,200,000 and next year they are 3 times increased from year 7.
on the other hand, in year 1 , the road accident facilities was approximately 3100 and next two year they are stable . From year 4 to 6 ,they are continuing ups and down in this period whilst in between 6 and 8 ,they are continuously increasing in the give time period .
overall,it is clear that the camera fines are continuously increased they used but road accident safety have minimum change and little ips and downs in this period.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response only partially addresses the task requirements. First, it fails to meet the minimum length requirement, containing only 134 words (excluding 53 copied from the prompt). Furthermore, the report completely ignores the tables showing survey results on people's opinions regarding speed cameras, focusing solely on the line graphs. While there is an attempt to describe the trends in speed camera fines and road accident fatalities, the data points described are frequently inaccurate or misread. For instance, the text claims that fines doubled every year from year 1 to year 6 and reached 1,200,000 in year 7, which does not accurately reflect the visual data. The overview provided at the end is very brief and fails to adequately summarise the main trends across all parts of the visual data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response shows some organisation, but there is no clear overall progression. The writing is broken into short, under-developed paragraphs, including a single-sentence introductory paragraph that fails to form a complete dependent clause ("The graphs illustrate that the number of drivers..."). Cohesive devices are used mechanically and sometimes inaccurately, such as "To begin with", "on the other hand", and "overall,it is clear that". Referencing is also weak, with pronouns like "they" frequently used ambiguously, making it difficult to follow whether the writer is referring to fines, years, or accident figures. Paragraphing is present, but the logical sequencing and flow between sentences require significant improvement to guide the reader smoothly through the report.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The lexical resource is limited and minimally adequate for the task, resulting in noticeable errors that can cause some difficulty for the reader. There are frequent word choice and spelling errors, such as "facilities" instead of "fatalities", "ips and downs" instead of "ups and downs", and "give time period" instead of "given time period". The range of vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple terms like "increase", "stable", and "change". Less common lexical items are rarely attempted, and when the student tries to use more descriptive language, collocation and word forms are often inaccurate, which impedes the precision required for an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex structures that are faulty. There are frequent errors in tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as "the speed camera fine was 2 00,000 then every year they were double", "next two year they are stable", and "reach at 1,200,000". Punctuation and spacing errors are also prevalent, including missing spaces after commas and numbers. These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control of basic grammatical patterns and sentence architecture.
