Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by reporting on both the line graphs and the survey tables, providing a clear overview of the main trends and data points. Key features such as the upward trajectory of speed camera fines and the general stability of road accident fatalities are identified and supported with figures from the charts. Similarly, the main survey findings are outlined. However, the progression from year to year in the line graphs is somewhat generalized rather than fully extended, reflecting a performance that satisfies the requirements for the lower band while showing glimpses of more thorough coverage. The data is generally accurate, though minor readings of the graph could be more tightly integrated to elevate the analysis further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with a logical division into paragraphs, beginning with an introduction, followed by an overview, and then separate paragraphs for the graphs and the survey tables. Cohesive devices are used to link ideas, such as 'Overall', 'On the other side', and 'Conversely', though referencing is occasionally mechanical or slightly repetitive. Paragraphing is handled well, ensuring the reader can easily navigate between the visual data sets. To move to a higher band, the transitions between sentences could be made smoother and more varied, reducing reliance on formulaic transitional phrases and enhancing the overall flow of information throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the main features of the charts and survey results. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'fatalities', 'fluctuated', and 'revenue's perspective', but encounters some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'over speeding' instead of 'speeding', and 'do not opinions are negative' or 'people has shared'. Spelling and word-form errors are present but do not impede communication, as the general meaning remains clear. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to demonstrate greater precision in lexical selection, using more natural collocations and minimizing errors in word forms when discussing statistical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response utilizes a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied structures such as relative clauses and comparative statements. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'speed camera are introduced', article omissions such as 'during year third to six', and preposition errors like 'voted under category of'. However, these errors rarely impede communication and the basic meaning is conveyed. To reach the next band, the writer must produce a higher frequency of error-free complex sentences and maintain tighter control over grammatical patterns, particularly regarding articles, plurals, and tense consistency when describing past statistical data.
