Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by describing both the visual data from the line graphs and the survey results from the tables. An overview is successfully provided, noting the upward trend in speed camera fines alongside the fluctuation in fatalities, as well as general public dissatisfaction. However, some aspects of the task are developed more fully than others; for instance, the description of the survey data lacks precise data integration, and the second sentence of the introduction is grammatically incomplete, hanging as a dependent clause ('While the tables illustrates...'). Key features such as the peak in fines and general trends are appropriately identified, placing this response firmly in the middle band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The report maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas, moving clearly from an introduction to visual descriptions, followed by the survey findings. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct sections of the prompt. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, with abrupt transitions such as 'Afterthat' and missing transitional links between sentences. Referencing is generally clear, but the overuse of simple cohesive devices and minor structural lapses in linking sentences prevent the response from achieving a higher level of fluid progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

An adequate range of vocabulary is demonstrated for the task, allowing the writer to successfully describe trends, numbers, and percentages using phrases like 'increased continuously', 'significant rise', and 'proportion of people'. There are several attempts to use less common vocabulary, though this is occasionally accompanied by inaccuracy in word choice and spelling, such as 'dissatification' instead of 'dissatisfaction', 'numer' instead of 'number', and 'rvenue' instead of 'revenue'. Despite these lexical slips and minor spelling errors, communication is not impeded and the vocabulary remains minimally sufficient to convey the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures frequently contain errors. There are several noticeable grammar and punctuation issues throughout the text, including fragment sentences, incorrect verb forms ('The number become doubled' instead of 'doubled'), missing articles ('at begining'), and punctuation spacing errors like missing spaces after periods. While these errors are noticeable and require some effort to parse, they rarely impede overall communication. The range of structures remains limited and errors persist, which is characteristic of this band level.
