Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify both the rising number of fines and the broadly fluctuating fatalities, and you include findings from all three survey questions. However, several key details are inaccurate or unclear. Fines rise to about 1.6 million in Year 8, not 2 million, and fatalities fluctuate around 3,100–3,350 rather than rising from 3,000 to 3,500. More importantly, the survey shows that 60% said cameras do not reduce accidents, but you write that people “agree” they had decreased them before noting disagreement. The response also lacks a clear, accurate overview of the main message across the visuals. Select the most important trends and report the survey majorities precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it introduces the visuals, gives an overview, and then discusses the graph and survey results. However, progression is not consistently clear, particularly where the graph description and survey summary run together in the final paragraph. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand” and “Moreover” are used, but connections between ideas are sometimes inaccurate or mechanical; for example, “On the other hand” does not clearly explain the relationship between the two trends. The survey findings would be easier to follow if grouped by question, with each result stated in a separate, logically ordered sentence. Use clearer paragraphing and refer consistently to the graph, the tables, and the survey respondents.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “speed camera fines,” “road accident mortalities,” “steady increase,” and “zigzag pattern,” so the topic is generally identifiable. However, the range is limited and several choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For instance, “mortalities” is less suitable than “fatalities” here, “plunge of road accidents” does not accurately describe the data, and “peak line” is unclear. There are also spelling and word-form problems, such as “raod,” “donot,” and “overspeeding.” Aim for precise chart language and avoid unsupported claims: “fluctuated slightly” and “rose sharply” would describe the trends more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a contrast between the two graph trends and sentences describing survey results. However, errors are frequent, and some sentence structures make relationships between ideas hard to understand. Examples include “The line Graph demonstrate,” where subject–verb agreement is incorrect, and “there is a increase,” where the article is wrong. Tense and sentence construction are also inconsistent in phrases such as “the speed camera fines had decrease” and “from 1 to 6 years, from 200,000 to 800,000.” Punctuation and spacing are often unreliable, especially around commas and sentence boundaries. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “while” or “whereas.”
