Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response identifies the two line graphs and gives a basic overview of rising camera fines and fluctuating fatalities, so it includes some relevant features. However, it omits all three survey tables, a substantial part of the task, and the final claim that the accident ratio is “controlled” is not supported: fatalities do not show a clear downward trend and finish at their highest level. Several figures are also inaccurate or unclear. For example, fatalities peak at about 3,350 in year eight, not 3,500, and the year-three figure is about 3,300, not 3,400. To improve, cover the survey results and give a concise, accurate overview of the main patterns across all the visuals.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, separate paragraphs for the two graphs, and a concluding contrast. Phrases such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the shift between topics. However, progression is weakened by repetition and unclear links. The overview repeats the introduction rather than summarising the key trends, while the final sentence introduces a conclusion that conflicts with the figures. Some references, such as “the largest number in 8 year,” are not immediately clear, and the survey information is not integrated at all. Organise the report around an overview followed by clearly grouped details, and use linking phrases only where they accurately show the relationship between points.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “speed camera fines,” “road accident,” “increased,” and “decreased,” and attempts to describe comparisons and trends. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. “The seed camera” appears to be a mistaken form of “speed camera,” while “the accident ratio is controlled” is not a precise description of the data. Spelling errors such as “fatlities,” “Britian,” and “annualy” also reduce accuracy. Aim for standard chart-report expressions and precise nouns, for example, “the number of fatalities fluctuated” rather than “the people are involved in road accident.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, and the paragraphing gives it a basic sentence framework. However, errors in agreement, tense, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make several statements awkward or unclear. For example, “The given line graphs illustrates” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “200000 people has been caught those who are cross the speed limit” combines incorrect agreement with an incomplete relative clause. The tense also shifts inconsistently between past and present, as in “was recorded” and “is reached.” Practise forming clear past-tense sentences for completed chart data, checking singular and plural subjects, and separating complex ideas into grammatically complete clauses.
