Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover both the line graph and the survey tables, and you identify the broad rise in fines and the public’s scepticism about cameras. However, several key details are inaccurate or unclear. The fatalities did not peak in 2002, 2003 and 2008 at about 3,100: they were roughly 3,300 in 2002–03 and 3,350 in 2008. The claim that 2004 had 3,000 is also below the chart’s approximate figure of 3,100. Your overview would be stronger if it clearly stated that fines rose sharply while fatalities fluctuated within a narrow range. You report some survey results accurately, but omit the 32% who said cameras reduce accidents and the 26% who cited road safety as the main reason for installation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable report structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on the graphs and a final paragraph on the survey. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in the graph paragraph, where several years and figures are listed without a clear comparison. Linking phrases such as “Moreover,” “Additionally” and “Moving towards” are used, but some feel mechanical or do not clarify the relationship between points. Group the main trends first, then use selected figures to support them; for example, contrast the steady rise in fines with the relatively stable fatalities. Clearer references and more precise transitions would make the report easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt task-relevant vocabulary, including “road accident fatalities,” “installation” and “raise revenue,” and the reader can generally identify the topics being discussed. However, the range and control are limited by repeated or inaccurate expressions such as “the lines grows,” “the fines are goes up” and “the surveys of many questions.” Several spelling errors, including “illustrarte,” “fatilities” and “infromation,” also make the report less polished and occasionally slow understanding. Some phrases are imprecise: “the majority will not be favour” does not clearly describe the survey finding, while “same count” is used for figures that are not actually the same. Use standard chart-report collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the report is divided into paragraphs, but grammatical control is weak and errors often make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “the lines grows sequently up,” “the fines are goes up,” and “there are 60 percents peoples who say no.” These show problems with subject–verb agreement, verb forms, plural forms and sentence construction. Articles and prepositions are also frequently missing or misplaced, as in “in 2004, have 3000” and “in the roads.” Many sentences lack clear punctuation or a complete grammatical structure. Build accuracy with short, complete sentences first, then add complex clauses only when you can control their verb forms and connections.
