SPEED CAMERA FINES and ROAD ACCIDENT FATALITIES

SPEED CAMERA FINES and ROAD ACCIDENT FATALITIES

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The given line graph depicts the information of the period of eight years since the introduction of speed cameras about the numbers of drivers in Britain who have been caught driving too fast by speed cameras which placed on roads along with that the number of individuals who killed in road accidents. The table chart shows the result of a survey on people opinions.

In the period of eight years speed camera fines rose contineously which was 200,000 in the first year and it hit the peak by reaching 1,600,000 in the last year.

Moreover, the numbere of road accident fatalities was under between 3,000 to 3,500 in the given time period.

32% of people were agreed that speed cameras decrease the number of road accidents but 60% indivisuals disagreed with this statement and 8% said they don't know.

The percentage of people who were in the favour to raise revenue for installation of speed cameras was 71. To improve the road safety were 26% and people who said don't know was 3%.

In the survey of about the number of speed cameras on road 56% people said too many and 19% and 17% indivisuals said too few and about right. Additionally, 8% said don't know in this survey.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You cover both the line graph and all three survey questions, and several figures are accurately reported, including fines rising from 200,000 to 1,600,000 and the survey’s 32%, 60% and 8% responses. However, the report is only partially developed: it gives little detail about the changing fatalities figure beyond saying it stayed between 3,000 and 3,500, and it does not provide a clear overall comparison or summary of the main patterns. The fines trend is described, but the intermediate rise is not explored. Also, “people who were in the favour to raise revenue for installation” misrepresents the question: 71% thought raising revenue was the main reason for installing cameras, not that they favoured this purpose. A clearer overview and more precise reporting would strengthen coverage.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a generally understandable order: it introduces the visuals, describes the two graph series, and then reports the three survey results. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these sections, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Additionally” guide the reader. However, the graph discussion is very brief compared with the survey details, so the report’s progression is uneven. Some connections are mechanical, and the final survey sentence compresses the figures into a confusing sequence: “19% and 17% individuals said too few and about right.” Make the relationship between each percentage and response explicit, and group related information in balanced paragraphs. This would make the overall organisation more consistently clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “speed camera fines,” “road accident fatalities,” “peak,” and “installation,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors are noticeable. For example, “the information of the period” is unnatural, “people opinions” lacks a possessive form, and “were in the favour to raise revenue” does not accurately express the survey result. There are also misspellings such as “contineously,” “numbere,” and “indivisuals.” Aim for precise reporting language such as “the proportion who believed” or “the figure for fatalities fluctuated,” and check spelling and common collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the reader can usually identify the intended meaning. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences. The opening sentence has a faulty relative clause (“speed cameras which placed on roads”) and an unclear construction (“along with that the number…”). Other examples include “32% of people were agreed,” where the verb form is incorrect, and “To improve the road safety were 26%,” which lacks a clear grammatical subject. Articles and possessives are also sometimes missing, as in “people opinions” and “on road.” Use shorter, complete sentences when describing each data point, and check subject–verb structure, articles, and verb forms.
