Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You cover both the charts and all three survey questions, and several survey percentages are reported accurately, including 60% who said cameras do not reduce accidents and 71% who thought their main purpose was raising revenue. However, the chart description contains important inaccuracies: fines rose from about 200,000 to 1.6 million, but the increase between years six and seven was about 400,000, not 40,000. Fatalities fluctuated rather than steadily expanding, and the highest figure was in year eight, not years two and three. The report also lacks a clear overview of the main patterns. To strengthen it, summarise the sharp rise in fines, the relatively stable fatality figures, and the survey’s generally sceptical views before giving selected details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response follows the broad order of the visual information: fines, fatalities, and then the survey results. Transitions such as “Firstly,” “Next moving on,” and “According to the survey” help signal these shifts. However, the report reads largely as one continuous paragraph, so the different sections are not clearly separated, and there is no distinct overview to guide the reader through the main findings. Some linking is awkward or repetitive, particularly the repeated “where” constructions in the survey section. Use separate paragraphs for the overview, chart details, and survey findings, and connect comparisons directly—for example, contrast the steep rise in fines with the small fluctuations in fatalities.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of vocabulary, including “significantly increasing,” “fatality cases,” and “conducted,” and the survey responses are generally understandable. However, word choice and spelling errors are frequent enough to make parts difficult to interpret: “speeed,” “singnificantly,” “recached,” and “leathal” obscure meaning, while “penned” is not suitable for describing a low figure. Several expressions are also unnatural, such as “the no deaths were slightly expanded” and “people possed that it is to raise revenue.” Choose precise chart language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe figures as “rose,” “fluctuated,” or “reached,” and use “respondents believed” when reporting survey opinions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There are attempts to combine ideas in longer sentences, especially when reporting the survey percentages, but the range of sentence structures is limited and errors occur frequently. Examples include “it is being significantly increasing,” where the verb form is faulty, and “the rate of fines are slightly increased,” which has problems with agreement and tense. The opening sentence is also incomplete or unclear in its construction, and punctuation around the quoted survey question is awkward. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise using accurate past-tense reporting forms, such as “fines increased” and “fatalities fluctuated,” and build clear sentences with a subject and verb before adding comparisons or supporting details.
