Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main broad patterns: fines rise substantially, fatalities fluctuate, and the survey responses are mostly negative about cameras’ effectiveness and number. You also report several key percentages accurately, including 71% who believe revenue is the main purpose and 56% who think there are too many cameras. However, coverage of the charts is incomplete: the rise in fines is not supported with later figures, and the fatality trend is described only generally. The claim that deaths were highest in year 2 and lowest in year 4 is inaccurate; the highest figure is in year 8, while the lowest is in year 4. The overview also refers vaguely to “purposes and advantages” rather than clearly summarising the survey’s main findings. Select and compare the most important data more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable report structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate paragraphs for the charts and survey tables. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In second table” signal movement between sections. However, progression within the data paragraphs is limited: the fines are not traced through the eight years, and the survey results are listed without much comparison. Some linking is repetitive or awkward, such as repeated use of “shows” and “while,” and references like “these” in “deaths fluctuates in these 8 years” are not fully smooth. Improve cohesion by grouping related figures, using clearer comparisons, and ensuring each paragraph develops one main point in a logical sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “fluctuates,” “installation,” “revenue,” and “ratio,” and the reader can generally understand the intended topics. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing these visuals. “Captured driving harshly” does not convey being caught speeding, “planted on the road” is an unsuitable collocation for cameras, and “high ratio of answer NO” is unclear. There are also spelling and word-form errors, including “ansawer” and “introduce.” These choices sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. Aim for precise chart language such as “the number of drivers fined,” “rose sharply,” and “the majority of respondents,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast between the two graphs and clauses introduced by “while” and “whereas.” However, errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to interpret. Examples include “the other line graph demonstrates of people died,” “the speed camera fines are dramatically accelerates,” and “the main reason … are to raise revenue,” where verb patterns, agreement or sentence construction are faulty. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “in 1 year” and “these 8 years,” and punctuation is uneven, including missing spaces after commas. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then build longer comparisons with controlled clauses and consistent past-tense reporting.
