Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response identifies the two charts and the survey, and it reports the strong rise in fines, including the final figure of 1,600,000. It also attempts to describe the changing fatality trend. However, the task is only minimally addressed: the survey results are not actually reported, and there is no clear overview of the main findings. The statement that fatalities are “in thousands” is too general to convey the key comparison, while the trend description is partly inaccurate: fatalities rise in years 1–2, remain level in year 3, and fluctuate thereafter rather than following the sequence described. Focus on the most important trends and include the survey’s dominant responses.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some basic organisation: an opening identifies the visuals, a paragraph beginning “OVERALL” attempts an overview, and the final paragraph describes the charts. Connectors such as “MEANWHILE” and “THEN” also show an effort to link information. However, progression is difficult to follow because the overview mixes chart information with unclear references to survey questions, and the survey is not given a separate, organised account. Several ideas are joined into long sentences, while repeated references to “the amount” and “the number” make relationships unclear. Use a clear sequence—introduction, overview, chart details, then survey findings—and group related comparisons together.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “speed camera fines,” “road accident fatalities,” “gradually rise,” and “increase.” These terms make the general subject understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices or spellings are inaccurate, such as “over-speed,” “displayed on rood,” “people lost their life,” and “durition.” “Reviews” is also an unsuitable word for survey opinions, and “the amount of fine” is imprecise when describing the number of fines. These errors sometimes make the intended meaning harder to interpret. Build a more accurate set of chart-reporting expressions, such as “the number of drivers fined,” “respondents’ views,” and “fluctuated,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple and more extended sentences, including a contrast introduced by “MEANWHILE” and a sequence of changes in the final paragraph. However, grammatical control is weak and errors recur across the response. Examples include “THE GRAPH ILLUSTRATES” followed by several ideas without clear sentence boundaries, “THE TABLES SHOWED” where the tense does not fit the report, and “THE AMOUNT OF FINE GRADUALLY RISE,” which has problems with number and verb agreement. Articles, plurals, and sentence punctuation are also inconsistent. These patterns sometimes obscure relationships between ideas. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using appropriate past-tense forms.
