Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the broad rise in fines and the general fluctuation in fatalities, and you include some survey opinions. However, the report is incomplete: it omits the survey findings about the main reason for cameras and the number of cameras, and gives no clear overall summary of the most important contrasts. Some data are inaccurate: fatalities did not fall to about 2,900; they stayed roughly between 3,100 and 3,350, ending at around 3,350. The claim that fines rose every year because of traffic violations is not established by the chart. The response is also 31 words below the required minimum, limiting the detail provided. Cover all three survey questions and report the key trends accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic sequence: it describes fines first, fatalities next, and then gives opinions from the survey. This makes the main topics identifiable. However, the report has no introduction or concluding overview, and the ideas within paragraphs are repetitive, particularly the repeated statements that fines increased. Linking is limited, with repeated use of “and then,” while the final paragraph shifts to survey results without explaining which survey question is being discussed. Organise the response into a brief introduction, an overview, and focused detail paragraphs. Use clear references such as “Regarding public opinion” and connect each figure to the specific question it answers.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “speed camera fines,” “road accidents,” “installation,” and “reduce,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “were increasing” and “number of road accidents.” “Security cameras” is not the most accurate term for the speed cameras shown, and “Aot” appears to be a spelling error. Aim for more precise chart language, including terms for trends and survey proportions, and avoid repeating the same wording. For example, describe fines as “rose steadily” and fatalities as “fluctuated within a narrow range.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas using time clauses and contrast, as in “Initially … and then,” and the basic meaning is usually understandable. However, the response relies mainly on simple sentence patterns, and errors recur in tense, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “the fines in first year are” shifts tense and omits an article, while “it were increasing” has incorrect agreement. “The number of road accidents were” also uses a plural verb with a singular subject. Commas are frequently followed by no space, and there is awkward punctuation in “and then ,it decreased.” Use past-tense forms consistently and check subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries.
