Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 2.5
The response makes only a minimal attempt to report the visual information and does not provide a reliable overview of the charts. It says that more than 3,000 people died in one year, but this is not a before-and-after comparison: fatalities remain around 3,100–3,350 across all eight years. The claim that cameras “reduce the death rate” and “reduce[] upto 200,000 lives” misreads the data; 200,000 is the number of fines in Year 1, not lives saved. The survey is also misrepresented: 60% said cameras do not reduce accidents, while only 32% agreed. The response mainly gives personal opinions rather than describing the figures, and it does not meet the 150-word minimum. Select the main trends and accurately compare the survey results.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to group ideas: the opening refers to the graphs, followed by a paragraph about public opinion and the writer’s view. However, the report does not progress through the visual information in a clear order, and the charts’ key features are largely absent. Linking phrases such as “by taking the overview” and “Because” do not establish clear relationships between the points, while the repeated references to safety make the second paragraph feel circular. The opening sentence is difficult to follow, and the final statement about “60%” is not clearly connected to the survey result. Use a short introduction, a factual overview, and separate paragraphs for the graph trends and survey findings, with clear references to each.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some relevant topic vocabulary, including “speed cameras,” “road accident,” “death rate,” and “installation,” so the general subject is recognisable. However, the range is narrow and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “reduce the death rate” when describing the chart and “reduce[] upto 200,000 lives.” Spelling errors—including “Eropeon,” “bratian,” “shoes,” and “sublic”—also make parts of the report harder to understand. The repeated use of “safety” and “speed cameras” limits variety. Build a more precise reporting vocabulary, for example “the number of fines rose” and “fatalities fluctuated,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and more extended sentences, for example the sentence beginning “Because the main purpose of installation…” and the opening description of the graphs. However, control is inconsistent: “the given graphs shoes ths the road accident percentage” has an unclear clause structure, and “speed cameras reduces” shows a subject–verb agreement error. Articles and sentence boundaries are also unreliable, as in “the road accident” and the run-on opening. These errors sometimes obscure the intended meaning, particularly when describing what the charts show. Practise forming clear subject–verb sentences in the present tense, and use full stops to separate complete ideas. A few accurate, well-controlled complex sentences would make the report easier to follow.
