SPEED CAMERA FINES and ROAD ACCIDENT FATALITIES

SPEED CAMERA FINES and ROAD ACCIDENT FATALITIES

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The graphs illustrates data about the number of people driving in Britain who had been caught during over speeding by speed camera installed on roads, Moreover the individuals who lost their lives in accidents, in the time period of eight years since the presences of speed camera.

The number of speed camera shows significant increase in all these past years, while the deaths due to road accidents shows marginally changes. However, during the survey people have mixed veiws. Most of people consider that road accident fatalities have no link with speed cameras. People have assume thats installation of cameras is linked with revenue generation.

Many individuals beleive that cameras donot reduce the road accidents because most of the people said No, Thus which contributes 60% while only 32% people beleive that it can reduce the death on the road. Further more, only 26% individuals support the idea that cameras are placed to improve safety while 71% ration goes with that its just to increase the taxes and generate more money while people having no veiws remain only 3%.

About 56% of people consider the number of cameras are too high while only 17% thinks they are appropiate in number. The percentage accounted for too few is only 19% while dont know makes up only 8%.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both the charts and the survey, and identify the main contrast: fines rise substantially while fatalities change little. You also report the key survey results, including the 60% who say cameras do not reduce accidents and the 71% who believe revenue is the main reason for their installation. This is relevant coverage, but the chart description is brief and lacks supporting figures across the eight years; the overview could also state more clearly that fatalities fluctuate within a narrow range rather than showing a consistent trend. Some survey details are less fully developed, and “increase in the number of speed camera” is not an accurate description of the fines series. Include a few representative values and describe the trends precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a generally understandable sequence: an introduction, a broad overview, and then discussion of the survey findings. Grouping the survey percentages by question helps the reader follow the information. However, the chart trends receive little development before the report moves to the survey, so the progression between the two visual components feels uneven. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, particularly “Thus which contributes 60%” and “while 71% ration goes with that.” The opening sentence is also overloaded, making the relationship between the two charts difficult to follow. Use separate, clearly focused paragraphs for the charts and survey, and connect comparisons with precise references such as “by contrast” or “whereas”.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “road accident fatalities,” “revenue generation,” and “improve safety,” which helps communicate the survey findings. However, the range and control are limited by repeated general terms such as “people,” “cameras,” and “number,” as well as inaccurate or awkward collocations. For example, “during over speeding” and “the percentage accounted for too few” are not natural ways to describe the data, while “increase the taxes” misrepresents the survey’s revenue option. Spelling errors such as “veiws,” “beleive,” “donot,” and “appropiate” are also noticeable. Build a more precise set of chart-reporting expressions and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, and the reader can generally understand the main comparisons. However, some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation reduce clarity. For instance, “The graphs illustrates” has subject–verb disagreement, and “Most of people consider” is missing an article. The opening sentence is a fragment-like, overlong construction, while “Many individuals beleive … because … Thus which contributes 60%” does not form a clear grammatical sequence. There are also inconsistent sentence boundaries and capitalization, such as “Moreover” following a comma and “No” after a comma. Practise building complete sentences with one clear main clause, then check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
