Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify the two main chart topics and attempt an overview, noting that fines rose while fatalities showed little change. However, the overview misreports the survey: you say most people believe accidents were reduced, whereas 60% answered “No” and only 32% said “Yes.” The response also stops mid-sentence at “the main reason of,” so the survey findings are not meaningfully described and the task is addressed only minimally. In addition, the response is 90 words, below the required 150, leaving too little detail to report the key figures and comparisons. To improve, complete the report and accurately summarise the survey’s dominant views, alongside selected figures from both graphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence introduces the visuals, followed by an overview beginning “Overall.” This gives the reader a starting point and shows some awareness of report structure. However, the response ends abruptly in the middle of an idea, and there is no developed paragraph presenting the chart or survey details. The transition “whereas” does signal a contrast, but the comma placement around it interrupts the sentence, and “the main reason of” does not complete a coherent link to the survey. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs for the introduction, overview and key details, and ensure each sentence is complete and logically connected.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “line graphs,” “road accident fatalities,” “upward trend” and “general public,” which helps establish the subject. The range is nevertheless limited, and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions weaken clarity: “road camera fines” is not a natural description of the figures, “falalities” and “raod” are misspelled, and “in this phenomenon” is an awkward phrase. The unfinished wording “the main reason of” also leaves the intended meaning unclear. Build a more precise range for describing charts and survey results, and check spelling and collocations. For example, refer to “drivers caught speeding” and “respondents’ opinions” rather than the less natural phrases used here.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts a complex contrast with “whereas,” and the opening sentence shows an effort to describe a time period. However, grammatical control is inconsistent. In “between eight years since the speed cameras have installed,” the time expression and verb form are faulty; a clearer structure would be “over the eight years since speed cameras were installed.” There are also agreement errors in “The tables displays” and “there was no significant changes,” as well as an incorrect clause in “people who caught.” The sentence beginning “Majority of the people believe” lacks an article and has an incomplete ending. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, subject–verb agreement and complete sentence construction before adding more complex structures.
