Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the main contrast in the charts: fines rise substantially, while fatalities fluctuate around 3,000. You also accurately report the first and final fine figures and include some survey percentages. However, the report covers the task only partially. The fatalities description is imprecise: the figure is about 3,100 in year four, and the later years fluctuate rather than showing a clear pattern. More importantly, the survey account stops after the road-safety response, omitting the 71% who thought cameras were installed to raise revenue and the opinions on camera numbers. Include all three survey findings and select key comparisons to make the overview more complete and informative.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the response moves from the charts to the survey, and phrases such as “Overall” and “while” signal a general contrast. However, progression is limited because the information is compressed into a few long, loosely connected sentences. The survey section begins by repeating the question and then ends abruptly after one response, so the reader cannot follow a complete account of the tables. Separate the overview, chart details and survey results into clear paragraphs, and group related figures together. Use linking expressions to show comparisons and changes, rather than relying mainly on “while” and a sequence of figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “fines,” “fatalities,” “opinions” and “reduce the number of accidents.” This gives the reader a basic sense of the subject. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to read, such as “illustrtaes,” “sharplly,” “steadlly” and “introducation.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “speed checking cameras” and “face ups and downs.” Use standard chart language and check spelling carefully; for example, describe fines as “increased sharply” and fatalities as “fluctuated.” More precise vocabulary would help distinguish a steady rise from variation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to combine information using clauses such as “while start of the year fines was…” and “while next four years…,” but these structures are often faulty. Errors in articles, agreement and sentence construction occur throughout: “the graphs illustrates” needs plural agreement, while “speed camera fines was” also has incorrect agreement. The opening sentence lacks a clear grammatical structure, and the long sentences run together, with punctuation missing after “per year.” These problems sometimes make the intended relationships unclear. Build accurate simple sentences first, then add a small number of controlled complex sentences. Check subject–verb agreement, articles and sentence boundaries when editing.
