Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify both charts and all three survey topics, and you report several key figures, including the rise in fines from 200,000 to 1.6 million and the 60% who say cameras do not reduce accidents. However, the account is partial and some details are inaccurate or unclear: fatalities are described as “accidents,” and the first-year figure is given as 3,000 rather than about 3,150. The overview (“ups and down”) is too vague to highlight that fatalities fluctuate within a relatively narrow range while fines rise sharply. The survey on whether there are too many cameras is also incomplete. The response is 142 words, below the required 150, which limits the opportunity to cover the data adequately. Add a clearer overview and select accurate comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some basic organisation: it begins with an introduction, gives a brief overview, then discusses the charts and survey results. This helps the reader recognise the main sections. However, progression within paragraphs is weak, and several ideas are compressed into long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the account of fatalities moves from the first year to later years without clearly distinguishing the small fluctuations, while the survey figures are crowded together. Linking words such as “Meanwhile” and “However” are used, but they do not always clarify the relationship between points. Use separate, focused paragraphs for the two graphs and the survey, and connect comparisons explicitly with phrases such as “by contrast” or “whereas”.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “speed camera,” “road accidents,” “installation,” and “revenue,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, making parts of the report awkward: “road accident faced dramatic increased,” “people review also look fine,” and “there many cameras on road.” Spelling errors such as “rechead,” “caemras,” and “saftey” are noticeable, and “fined” is used where “fines” or “drivers were fined” would be more suitable. Aim for precise chart language, for example “the number of fines rose” and “fatalities fluctuated.” Proofread spelling and use standard expressions for describing proportions and trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a few longer structures, but most sentences rely on simple patterns, and errors are frequent enough to make some relationships difficult to follow. The opening has subject–verb disagreement (“The line graphs illustrates”), while “Overall speed camera increased yearly” lacks a clear grammatical subject and article. In “200000 people fined through speed camera,” the passive verb form and sentence structure are incomplete. The survey section also contains missing verbs and punctuation, as in “56% people think that there many caemras on road.” These issues affect agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use accurate past-tense forms consistently when describing the eight-year period.
