Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both the charts and all three survey questions, and your overview identifies the broad contrast between rising fines and fluctuating fatalities. The survey figures are mostly reported accurately, including the 60% who said cameras do not reduce accidents and the 71% who thought revenue was the main reason for installation. However, the fines trend is not fully precise: fines rose throughout the period, with the sharpest increases in the final years, rather than increasing gradually only until year six. The fatalities range is also slightly overstated; the figures are approximately 3,100–3,350, not 3,000–3,500. Develop the overview with the key contrast that fatalities remained broadly stable despite the steep rise in fines, and describe the final-year changes more accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on the charts and a final paragraph on the survey. This makes the main categories of information easy to locate. However, progression within the chart description is limited, and the overview repeats information that is then stated again in the detail paragraph. Linking is also sometimes mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “Meanwhile,” to move between unrelated points. The final paragraph lists survey results in a single long sequence, so the three questions are not clearly separated. Grouping the survey findings into two or three linked comparisons, and using clearer references such as “Regarding public opinion,” would make the organisation more coherent and the connections between ideas easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “fluctuated,” “proportion,” “fatalities” and “installation,” and the reader can generally understand the comparisons. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “fines collected” when the chart shows drivers caught, “people died” and “generate income.” There are also spelling errors in “camaras” and “disgreed,” alongside repetition of “people” and “cameras.” These issues make the vocabulary less precise and controlled, although they do not prevent understanding. Aim for accurate chart-reporting phrases and vary the language used to describe survey respondents and their views.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including the overview clause “before experiencing sharp increase” and the comparison beginning “whereas.” However, grammatical control is uneven, and several errors affect sentence accuracy. For example, “the number of people died” needs a relative clause (“the number of people who died”), while “fines … has gradually increased” has a subject–verb agreement error. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention: “by end of period” should include “the,” and there is no space after the full stop in “cameras.Meanwhile.” The final survey sentence is overloaded and would be clearer as separate sentences. Check agreement, articles and punctuation, while continuing to practise complex sentence forms.
