Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main subjects and give a broad overview: fines rose substantially, fatalities changed little, and respondents were more likely to think cameras raise revenue than improve safety. However, the report addresses the visual information only partially. The survey’s figures are mostly omitted, and the overview that most people believe cameras do not reduce accidents is not supported by a specific percentage. Some data are inaccurate or unclear: fatalities are described as moving from 3,000 to 3,200, although they fluctuate around 3,100–3,350, and “200,00” is an incorrect rendering of 200,000. The final sentence is incomplete and introduces an opinion rather than reporting the data. The response is also five words below the 150-word minimum. Include key survey percentages and complete the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure, with an introduction, an overview and a paragraph describing selected trends. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast” and “Moreover” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is limited: the final paragraph moves between the fines chart, fatalities and survey results without clearly grouping or comparing the information. The survey findings are repeated in general terms rather than organised into a concise account of the three questions. Some references are also unclear, as in “Most of them,” which could refer to the public generally or to a particular survey response. The unfinished ending (“In my opinion, there is to m”) disrupts the report. Use separate, logically ordered paragraphs for the charts and survey, and finish with a complete, data-focused sentence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing trends and opinions, including “increased,” “in contrast,” “public opinions” and “reduce accidents.” This gives the reader a general sense of the information. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “fast riding,” “drivers ride speedily,” “raise money” and “strong opinion on raise money.” Spelling errors, including “instolation” and “bearly,” also reduce clarity. Aim for precise chart-report language and accurate forms, for example “the number of speeding drivers,” “rose steadily,” and “the main reason cited was raising revenue.” Avoid informal or personal phrasing such as “In my opinion” in an academic Task 1 report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “In contrast” and a clause beginning “that the number…”. However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “the graphs illustrates” and “The tables shows,” incorrect verb patterns in “drivers are caught” and “the number of drivers ride,” and tense or sentence-construction problems in “In the beginning it's started.” Articles and prepositions are also often missing or inaccurate, as in “reached at top.” The final clause is incomplete, so it cannot communicate a complete idea. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and past-tense descriptions, and check each sentence for a complete subject and verb before adding more complex structures.
