Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You identify the two chart topics and report several broad figures, including the rise in fines from about 200,000 in year 1 to 1.6 million in year 8. However, the response is incomplete: it omits all three survey tables, despite these being a major part of the task, and gives no clear overview comparing the sharp increase in fines with the broadly fluctuating fatalities. Some figures are also inaccurate: year 3 fines are about 380,000, not 400,000; year 4 is 500,000 but is omitted; and fatalities in year 4 are about 3,100, not 3,000. The response is 142 words, below the 150-word minimum. Cover every visual and summarise its main patterns before selecting details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response follows a basic sequence, first introducing the visuals, then describing fines and fatalities. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is organised. However, the opening is fragmented: “According to the graph over an eight years period since the introduction of speed cameras” is not a complete sentence, and the transition to “This table” is confusing because the survey results are never described. The year-by-year figures are presented as a series of short, repetitive statements, with little comparison or grouping. Use clear paragraphs for the overview, chart trends and survey findings, and connect related figures to show patterns rather than listing them separately.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “speed cameras,” “fines,” “road accident fatalities,” and “recorded,” so the subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or repetitive. “2 lac fine” and “3 lac” are not suitable ways to report these figures in an IELTS report; use “200,000 fines” and “300,000 fines.” “Accidents” is also inaccurate when the chart measures people killed, not the number of accidents. Phrases such as “fine is” recur, and “speed camera placed on road” is awkward. Choose precise terms for the measured quantities and vary reporting verbs and trend vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most of the response relies on simple present-tense statements, and there are attempts to form longer sentences, but control is inconsistent. The opening ends with the fragment “According to the graph over an eight years period,” while “This table show” has subject–verb disagreement. Other examples include “an eight years period,” “peoples opinions,” and “1st year is around 3100 accidents,” where articles, plurals or sentence structure need attention. Commas and full stops are also used unevenly, making the lists difficult to read. Practise complete sentences with accurate articles and agreement, and combine figures using controlled comparative structures such as “rose from … to …, while fatalities fluctuated.”
