Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 2.5

The response identifies the general subject of the graphs and tables, mentioning speeding drivers, road deaths and public opinions. However, it only introduces the visuals and gives no overview of the main trends or any survey findings; for example, it does not report that fines rose substantially while fatalities fluctuated, or that most respondents thought cameras were intended to raise revenue. The task requires a report describing the information, so this is only a very limited response to its key requirements. It is also far below the required 150 words: the response contains 39 words, and 17 words copied from the prompt were not counted. To improve, add a clear overview and select and compare the most important figures from both charts and the tables.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the first part refers to the graphs, and the second clause introduces the survey table. The ideas are presented in a broadly understandable order, but the response is only one sentence and does not develop into a report with an overview and supporting details. The linking between the two visual groups is limited to “and,” while the full stop before “the table” does little to establish a clear progression. Build separate paragraphs for an overview and the key data, and use clear transitions such as “By contrast” or “Regarding public opinion” to guide the reader through the information.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “speed cameras,” “road accidents,” “period,” and “opinions,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is very limited, and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unclear, such as “countable pf teengeer” and “speed cameras location in roads.” “The results of surveys” is also less precise than “the survey results” in this context. These problems make parts of the description difficult to understand and there is no vocabulary for describing trends or proportions. Practise accurate chart language such as “rose,” “fluctuated,” “accounted for,” and “the majority of respondents,” checking spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts a longer sentence to connect the graphs and tables, but control of sentence structure is weak. The opening, “The graphs illustrates gives,” combines incompatible verb forms, and “there have been caught” does not form a correct description of the drivers. The phrase “over an eight years period” also shows problems with number and article use. Although the reader can infer the broad topic, these errors make the sentence difficult to follow, and there is little evidence of a range of accurately controlled structures. Use a clear simple opening, such as “The graphs show…,” then write separate sentences for the overview and details, checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms.
