Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover both charts and all three survey questions, and the survey percentages are reported accurately. You also identify the main contrast: fines rise substantially, while fatalities remain within a fairly narrow range. However, the chart description is brief and some important detail is missing. For example, fines increase steadily before accelerating after year five, but the account gives only the approximate year-five and year-eight figures. Fatalities are described as staying in the same range, without noting that they fluctuate around 3,000–3,350. There is also no clear overall summary bringing together the chart trends and the survey’s generally negative views. Develop the key trends and comparisons more fully, and include a concise overview rather than relying mainly on question-by-question reporting.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response is arranged in a generally understandable order: it introduces the visuals, describes the two charts, and then reports the survey results in sequence. Paragraphing helps distinguish the chart information from the opinions, and phrases such as “on the other hand” signal a comparison. However, the progression is somewhat mechanical, particularly in the repeated “In the first question,” “In the second question,” and “The last question” structure. The opening sentence is overloaded and difficult to follow, while the survey section reads more like a list than a synthesis of related findings. Group the information into clearer paragraphs and use links that show relationships between results, such as the contrast between respondents’ views of safety and revenue.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “speed camera fines,” “road accident fatalities,” “sharp increase,” and “raise revenue,” so the main information is usually clear. There is some useful variation in describing the survey responses, but the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “kept the same range,” “different peoples opinioin,” and “close percentage.” Spelling errors, including “opinioin” and “betwwen,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise trend language and standard collocations, for example, “fluctuated within a narrow range” and “similar proportions.” Proofreading spelling and avoiding conversational phrases such as “showed us” would make the report more appropriate for an academic task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can generally understand the intended meaning. However, control is inconsistent, especially in the opening sentence, which combines several ideas without a clear grammatical structure. There are errors in agreement and articles, as in “The two line charts illustrates” and “there is increase,” and some sentence boundaries and punctuation are awkward, including the colon-led survey questions. The phrase “with only 8% they didn't know” also lacks a clear grammatical connection. Use shorter, well-controlled sentences when presenting figures, check subject–verb agreement and articles, and punctuate question references consistently. More accurate control of these basic structures is needed alongside attempts at longer sentences.
