In some countries today, there is an attitude that 'anyone can do it' in the arts - music, literature, acting, art, etc. As a result, people with no talent become rich and famous and genuine talent is not valued or appreciated.

Do you agree or disagree?

You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is undeniable that today's world is in favour of viral characters with no or little talent. In some countries, some viral people do not have talent, but perform everything what they want, like singing, acting, and artwork. As a consequence, talented people are not valued or appreciated. I strongly agree with this view because talented people are not appreciated.

Generally speaking, there are a wide range of reasons why I think that the non-talented become rich day by day, while the real talent does not reach this level. Perhaps the main reason why people are in favour of non-talented people is that internat is accessible to all kinds of people. For example, non-talented people have nothing to lose; for this reason, they do funny things and can reach the world.

Despite these arguments, there is also a case for the idea that real talent has a longer run compared to a viral one. Viral non-talented people can make money by doing all sorts of art for fun; after that, they cannot achieve the main goal of life. For instance, the viral people are not remembered by the world only those with have pure talent have the capacity by which they can remain in the memory of people.

In conclusion, it must be said that this is a topic which is very relevant to modern society. I strongly agree with the belief that the popular people nowadays want to do all kinds of art forms; as a result, they cannot do any of this properly. If you do your work properly, the world will remember you even after your death

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that people with little talent can gain attention while genuine talent is undervalued. You also offer relevant points, including the internet’s reach and the idea that viral fame may be short-lived. However, the argument is only partly developed. The claim that online performers “have nothing to lose” does not explain clearly why audiences reward them or how this affects talented artists. The point about lasting recognition is relevant, but the example remains general and does not show a specific consequence for artists or audiences. To strengthen the response, explain the mechanisms behind your view and support each main point with a concrete example or fuller reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally follow a sensible order. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “Despite these arguments” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, the progression is not always smooth: “Despite these arguments” suggests a counterargument, but the following paragraph mainly reinforces your position by saying viral fame is temporary. Some references are also unclear, particularly “they cannot achieve the main goal of life” and “this,” whose meanings are not specified. Make the relationship between each paragraph’s point and your overall argument more explicit, and use transitions that accurately reflect the ideas that follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “viral,” “talented,” “appreciated,” “art forms” and “remain in the memory of people.” This is enough to communicate the central argument, but several choices are imprecise or repetitive, which limits clarity and naturalness. For example, “viral characters” and “non-talented people” are repeated where more precise terms such as online performers or artists with limited skill would fit better. “Internat” is a spelling error, and “a longer run” is not the natural expression for lasting recognition. Aim for accurate collocations and a wider range of terms for fame, artistic ability and public attention; this will make your points more precise without changing your overall meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “while” and “after that,” and your meaning is generally understandable. However, some sentence structures and grammatical patterns are inaccurate. In “perform everything what they want,” the relative construction is faulty; “perform whatever they want” would be more natural. The sentence beginning “Viral non-talented people can make money…” joins ideas awkwardly, while “only those with have pure talent” contains an incorrect verb construction. There are also punctuation and sentence-boundary issues, especially in “are not remembered by the world only those…”. Practise building complex sentences with clear clause boundaries and check verb patterns and relative clauses before finalising your work.
