Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, many people believe that anyone can become successful in the arts, such as music, acting, literature and painting. As a result, some people without real talent become famous and wealthy, while genuinely talented individuals do not recieve enough appreciation.i partly agree with this statement because social media and popularity have changed the way people become successful.

So we start from "anyone can do it". basically social media made this easy to sat that anyone can do it but in my opinions everyone can do it but without the luck. the person who has the exraordinary luck on his side can dit. However, the person who gets famous gets famous beacuse of the love of his fan even if he is not that talented. For example, some social media influencers become popular overnight, even though thay may not have anu special artistic skills.

Secondly, i belive that genuinly talented people sometimes struggle to achieve recognition. Many artists spend years improving their skills and hard working, but they may not have enough money or opportunities to promote their work. On the other hand, people who have a large number of followes can easily attract attention. As a result, talented indivials may feel discourragd because their efforts are not properly valued.

however, ido not believe that all successfyl artists lack talent. there are many who become famous because of there creativity and talent.

In Conclusion, i agree that popularity sometimes receives more attention than genuine talent, particularly because of social media. However, I believe that taleented prople can still achieve success through hard work, patience and determination.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear, relevant position: you partly agree that popularity can outweigh talent, while noting that some successful artists are genuinely talented. The discussion of social media influencers and artists who lack money or promotional opportunities addresses both sides of the issue. However, the ideas are only partly developed: the claim that success depends on “luck” is asserted rather than explained, and the examples remain general. The paragraph acknowledging talented successful artists is especially brief and does not provide an example or explain how they gain recognition. To strengthen the response, develop each main point with a specific example and explain more directly how it supports your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a qualification, and a conclusion. The progression from social media popularity to the difficulties faced by talented artists is generally understandable, and phrases such as “Secondly” and “On the other hand” help signal relationships. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the short paragraph beginning “however” interrupts the flow rather than being integrated with the discussion. The opening of the first body paragraph, “So we start from ‘anyone can do it’,” is also conversational and does not clearly guide the argument. Use clearer topic sentences, connect the qualification to the preceding point, and ensure paragraphing reflects the development of ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “genuinely talented,” “recognition,” “promote their work,” and “creativity and talent.” These choices make the main ideas understandable. However, the range is limited in places, with repeated use of “famous,” “talent,” and “people,” and some expressions are inaccurate or awkward, such as “the love of his fan” and “anyone can do it but without the luck.” Spelling errors—including “recieve,” “exraordinary,” “followes,” and “discourragd”—are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the writing. Build a wider set of precise terms for artistic ability, public attention, and career success, and proofread spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a contrast with “while” and a concession beginning “even though.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main message is usually recoverable. However, control is inconsistent: “the person who gets famous gets famous” is repetitive and awkwardly constructed, while “Many artists spend years improving their skills and hard working” mixes grammatical forms. There are also errors in sentence boundaries and punctuation, such as the run-on transition after “appreciation” and the lower-case starts “i,” “however,” and “In Conclusion.” Practise building accurate clauses and parallel forms, and check capitalization and punctuation so that sentence boundaries are clear.
