Student answer (Band 7.0)

With the massive innovations and advancements happening in technology all around us nowadays, it has become easier for people to be artists. Due to that some people now believe that anyone can do all the arts for example, music, literature, acting, etc even if they do not possess the right talent. I believe this could have some truth to it.

Arts do not depend on the existence of just raw talent anymore, let's take drawing and painting for example, people can use digital programs to draw and paint that are user friendly and can have AI integrated in them to help with the creative process. Furthermore, it is all about how a person can market themselves to the right audience, most if not all individuals are now chronically online and so a smart person should know how to make use of this, for example we find some people that do any sort of arts demonstrating their talents online and they are always bound to find a target audience even if they are not very talented. This online existence enables them to be more famous and in result also more rich as people can hold art galleries online now and sell their works of art to just about anyone.

Reels have also helped a lot of people to have an acting digital being. Now, people do not need to go to acting schools and audition for roles in the hopes of being chosen. A very well-known platform where people go on there to start their acting career is TikTok, many famous actors started just as normal people doing small sketches there. A good example of a person who started online and then went on the big screen but not as an actor is: iShowSpeed who is a very famous streamer who started on YouTube and did very wild things for clout and now he is getting the recognition he deserves, he even started making songs and took part in the last World Cup closing event, and he did all that even though he doesn't really own the singing ability, but he knew how to make a market for himself.

In this day and age, if a person with talent waited to be recognized instead of doing something for themselves using the available resources, they won't get very far and their dreams of being famous and rich won't come to light. However, talent is not the only factor anymore and that is why I agree that anyone can be an artist and do all the arts and get famous for it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all parts of the prompt, clearly stating your position that the 'anyone can do it' attitude has some truth due to technological and marketing shifts. Your ideas are relevant and supported by contemporary examples like TikTok and digital art tools. However, the development is slightly uneven; while you explain the 'how' (marketing and technology), you could have more deeply explored the counter-argument regarding whether 'genuine talent' is truly being devalued or if the definition of talent is simply evolving. The conclusion is clear, but the essay would benefit from a more nuanced discussion of the quality of art produced in this new era to fully satisfy the 'well-developed' requirement for higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay follows a logical progression, moving from the impact of technology to the role of marketing and social media platforms. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'In this day and age', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, though the connection between the example of iShowSpeed and the broader argument about 'arts' could be tighter, as he is a streamer rather than a traditional artist. Overall, the flow is easy to follow, and the structure supports your central argument effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'chronically online', 'integrated', and 'clout' appropriately in context. There is an attempt to use less common items, though some phrasing is slightly informal or imprecise, such as 'acting digital being' or 'own the singing ability'. While these do not impede communication, they limit the precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and avoiding colloquialisms that might sound too conversational for an IELTS essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'in result also more rich' (should be 'as a result, also richer') and 'they won't get very far' (a shift in tense/modality). Punctuation is generally functional, though some sentences are slightly run-on. The errors present do not impede meaning, but the range of complex structures is somewhat limited. To reach a higher band, aim for more varied sentence beginnings and ensure consistent control over verb tenses and comparative structures.
