Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt but lacks depth in its arguments. While you identify the issue of fame without talent, the development of ideas is limited. For instance, you mention social media as a cause of fame, but the explanation is fragmented and lacks a clear link to why this devalues genuine talent. The conclusion is somewhat contradictory, as you state you will discuss advantages and disadvantages, but the essay focuses primarily on the negative aspects of untalented fame. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and a fully developed example that directly supports your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by unclear transitions and sentence-level errors. While you use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'On the other hand', the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak. Referencing is often confusing, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between social media and the impact on society is not clearly articulated. The final sentence of the second paragraph is incomplete, which disrupts the flow of the argument significantly. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each sentence follows logically from the previous one is essential.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'famous', 'talent', and 'money' throughout the text. There are also several word-choice errors, such as 'money do not by every people feelings' and 'archive positive outcomes' (likely meaning 'achieve'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the range is not sufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to the arts and social media, and pay closer attention to word forms and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a high frequency of grammatical errors throughout the essay, which occasionally impedes readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('It is often argue', 'social media help'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structures ('who have minimal singing skills... it more popular'). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences often contain errors in punctuation or syntax. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative clauses. Proofreading for basic errors like 'participant' instead of 'participate' will also help raise your score.
