Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many people believe that nowadays can become successful in fields such as music, acting, drama literature, and art, even without talent. They argue that social media and reality shows have made it possible for became rich and famous, while truly gifted artists are often ignored. I agree with this opinion.
On the one hand, social media has made it easier for people to gain popularity without having skills. Many individuals become famous by creating short videos, following online trends or attracting attention through their appearance rather than their talent. As they gain millions of followers, they earn money through advertisements, brand promotions and sponsorships. Meanwhile, talented musicians, writers and painters often struggle to receive the same level of recognition because their work does not become viral as easily.
Secondly, the entertainment industry often focuses more on popularity than ability. Television shows, online platforms and media companies sometimes promote people who can attract large audiences instead of those with genuine talent. As a result, skilled artists may receive fewer opportunities, while less talented individuals enjoy fame and financial success. This can discourage hardworking artists who spend years developing their skills.
Finally, genuine talent deserves greater appreciation because it contributes to culture and inspires future generations. Artists who possess real ability usually invest years of practice and dedication in improving their work. Society should recognise and support these individuals instead of giving attention only to those who become famous through social media or temporary trends.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that many untalented people have become rich and famous in the modern world, while genuine artists are often not valued enough. Governments, media organizations and the public should make greater efforts to recognize and encourage true talent.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, maintaining a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding the influence of social media and the entertainment industry's focus on popularity are relevant and well-supported. The ideas are extended logically, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the stance. To reach a higher band, the student could provide more specific, concrete examples—such as referencing a particular type of reality show or a specific trend—to move beyond general observations. However, the development is sufficient for a Band 7, as the main points are clearly articulated and the position is consistent.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the use of cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'Secondly,' and 'Finally' helps guide the reader through the argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions could be more sophisticated to avoid a slightly mechanical feel. Overall, the structure is clear, and the logical progression is maintained from the introduction to the conclusion, meeting the criteria for a Band 7.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'viral,' 'sponsorships,' and 'entertainment industry.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on fairly common phrasing. To achieve a higher score, the student should incorporate more precise, less common lexical items (e.g., 'meritocracy' or 'superficiality') and demonstrate better control over collocations. The current range is sufficient for the task but lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are some grammatical slips, such as 'nowadays can become successful' (missing subject) and 'possible for became rich' (incorrect verb form). These errors do not impede communication, but they indicate a lack of full control over complex structures. To improve, the student should focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and correct infinitive usage. The current level of accuracy and the variety of structures used are consistent with a Band 6, as the errors are noticeable but do not cause difficulty for the reader.
