Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is undeniable that in this contemporary society, the equalization of media and content creation has fostered a widespread belief that "anyone can make it" in the realistic realm. In this regard, it is widely acknowledged that this open-access culture has undeniably enabled individuals with minimal formal training to achieve immense commercial success. I agree to some extent with this notion due to many factors which will be outlined in the forthcoming fragments with a logical conclusion.

To commence with, modern technology and social media platforms have lowered the barriers to entry, often raising viral novelty over artistic mastery. To explain, Streaming platforms and video-sharing applications allow virtually anyone to broadcast music, writing, or performance art to millions without undergoing traditional gatekeeping. Consequently, algorithms frequently reward high-concept, easily digestible, or sensational content rather than technical excellence. A prime example is the phenomenon of social media influencers and reality television figures who secure profitable recording contracts or published book deals purely based on their follower counts rather than their technical prowess. In this sense, popular culture can sometimes appear saturated with overnight celebrities who possess limited conventional talent.

Nevertheless, there are many points in favor of genuine talent. Firstly, the appreciation of technical sills and mastery remains lively within dedicated art spaces, respected institutions and among critical audiences. To elaborate, master classical musicians, accomplished stage actors, and celebrated novelists continue to command sold-out venues, prestigious awards, and enduring respect precisely because their work displays a depth that viral trends cannot replicate. Furthermore, public interest in "easy" or gimmick-driven art is often fleeting, whereas authentic talent builds lasting legacies. Moreover, access to tools should not be confused with a reduction of talent rather, it broadens the definition of talent itself. To exemplify, today, creative vision, storytelling, and the ability to connect emotionally with a global audience are recognized as talents in their own right. For instance, digital tools allow extraordinarily gifted individuals from marginalized or underrepresented backgrounds—who previously lacked access to traditional record labels or publishing houses—to finally reach an audience. In these cases, technology serves to unearth and celebrate genuine talent that otherwise would have remained hidden.

In conclusion, although there are several reasons in favor of the statement that genuine talent has not lost its value such as extraordinary talent remains lively, yet the circumstance of modern statement of "anyone can do it" can never be neglected at any cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all parts of the prompt, providing a balanced view that acknowledges the rise of 'anyone can do it' culture while defending the enduring value of genuine talent. Your position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout. The arguments are well-developed, particularly the distinction between viral novelty and technical mastery. To reach a higher band, ensure that your conclusion does not introduce new phrasing that feels slightly disconnected from the body paragraphs; instead, synthesize your main points more directly to reinforce your stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. You use a variety of cohesive devices effectively, such as 'To commence with,' 'Consequently,' and 'Nevertheless,' which guide the reader through your argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct themes. While the flow is generally smooth, the final sentence of the conclusion is slightly awkward and repetitive, which slightly disrupts the overall coherence. Improving the precision of your concluding summary would enhance the logical flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a strong vocabulary with the use of sophisticated items such as 'contemporary society,' 'gatekeeping,' 'technical prowess,' and 'marginalized.' Your word choice is generally precise and contributes to a formal, academic tone. There are occasional minor issues with collocation, such as 'realistic realm' (which is unclear) and 'modern statement of,' but these do not impede communication. You have a good grasp of topic-specific vocabulary related to the arts and media.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a wide range of complex structures, including conditional-like constructions and relative clauses, with a high degree of accuracy. Most of your sentences are error-free, and your control over punctuation is generally good. There are a few minor slips, such as the slightly clunky phrasing in the final paragraph ('the circumstance of modern statement of...'), but these are rare and do not affect the clarity of your message. Your control of grammar is consistent and supports your arguments well.
