Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but struggles to maintain a clear, consistent argument. While you state your disagreement, the supporting points are underdeveloped and often confusing. For instance, the argument that a businessman's customer service skills equate to artistic talent is a weak justification for the 'anyone can do it' phenomenon. The ideas lack depth and logical connection to the core issue of whether genuine talent is being devalued. To improve, you should focus on providing concrete examples of how the arts are currently perceived and why you believe talent is still valued, rather than drifting into general statements about business skills or relaxation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with' and 'In conclusion', they are sometimes used incorrectly or do not effectively link the sentences. For example, the transition in the second paragraph is abrupt, and the final paragraph does not clearly summarise your position. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often used inaccurately. Phrases like 'my nation' (likely meant 'my opinion') and 'fortune outcomes' are confusing and do not convey the intended meaning. There is an attempt to use academic vocabulary, but it often results in unnatural collocations, such as 'render in-depth knowledge of talent'. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle to express complex ideas precisely. To reach a higher band, focus on learning word families and common collocations, and ensure that the words you choose are appropriate for the context of an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('a wealthy businessman have'), incorrect word forms ('there are significant of causes'), and awkward sentence structures ('it dose not means it accomplished without such prompts'). While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. The punctuation is generally functional, but the overall control of grammar is weak. You should focus on mastering basic sentence structures and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
