Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 132 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While you state your disagreement with the prompt, the arguments provided are repetitive and lack the necessary depth, examples, or evidence required for an academic essay. The ideas are presented in a very basic manner, and the response does not fully address the complexity of the topic. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a full discussion of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear structure or paragraphing. The ideas are presented in a single, disjointed block, which makes the progression of your argument difficult to follow. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas logically. For example, the transition between your disagreement and the explanation is abrupt and lacks logical connectors. To improve, you should organise your response into clear paragraphs: an introduction, body paragraphs with topic sentences, and a conclusion. Using linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' would help improve the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, relying on basic words such as 'talent', 'rich', and 'famous'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'In the few countries today' instead of 'In some countries today' and 'I am totally disagree' instead of 'I totally disagree'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. To improve, you should focus on learning collocations and synonyms related to the arts and societal trends, and practice using them in context to avoid repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'people with no talent becomes' (should be 'become') and 'his talent are not appreciate' (should be 'his talents are not appreciated'). Additionally, there are errors in article usage and sentence structure, such as 'In the our country'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, you need to focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly verb forms and pluralisation, and work on constructing more complex, error-free sentences.
