Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is irrefutable that nowadays, many people are doing well in activities such as music, literature and acting which results in making them more affluent and popular. Due to which, the real talent among people with better art skills are less valued. I substantially agree with this notion and put forth my arguments ahead.

To begin, there are plethora of reasons that why persons with zero talent enjoying luxurious lifestyle. Firstly, owing to the advancement in technology, people post about their small artistic skills on the social media, which not only aid them to gain popularity, but also enhance their skills at the best. For instance, many married girl influencers share about their daily makeup routine with no professional knowledge with their fans. Consequently, they receive lakhs of likes and comments which fosters their fame at the highest level.

Furthermore, another root cause of reaching at the upper strata is good communication skills and manifestation. Many persons are born with some inherent way of talking, which put positive impact on the listener. In this way, their conversations are valued. For example, many researchers dissect that the words spoken by us put a great influence on our lifestyle. Better words are more attracted than words with no clarity and intonation.

In contrast, if the innate talent of the people recognize at the earliest and bestow an opportunity to come forward, no one can stop them to become rich.

To sum up, a talent can merely be observed with the skills of better communication along with positive mindset and stay aligned with the latest developments, otherwise having innate skills does not make a person to gain fame in the real world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The first body paragraph discusses social media influencers, which is relevant, but the second paragraph focuses on 'communication skills and manifestation,' which feels slightly tangential to the core issue of artistic talent versus commercial success. The conclusion is also somewhat confusing, as it seems to contradict the earlier stance by suggesting that innate skills are insufficient without other traits. To reach a higher band, ensure that every paragraph directly supports the central argument and provides more cohesive, logical evidence rather than abstract concepts.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In contrast.' However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions are awkward, such as 'Due to which' at the start of a sentence. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the final paragraph where the connection between 'innate talent' and 'latest developments' is not fully explained. While the structure is generally coherent, the progression of ideas could be smoother and more sophisticated to achieve a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at more sophisticated language like 'irrefutable,' 'affluent,' and 'strata.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'many married girl influencers' and 'dissect that the words spoken by us.' The phrase 'fosters their fame at the highest level' is also slightly unnatural. While the range is sufficient to convey the writer's meaning, the lack of precision and occasional misuse of vocabulary limit the score to the 6.0 band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'there are plethora of reasons that why persons with zero talent enjoying luxurious lifestyle' (missing verb/article) and 'if the innate talent of the people recognize at the earliest' (passive voice error). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction often lacks the control required for higher bands. The errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, though they do not completely prevent the reader from understanding the main points.
