Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 180 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state a position, the arguments regarding 'references' and 'jobs' are not clearly linked to the prompt about the arts. The essay lacks specific examples related to music, literature, or acting, and the discussion is too brief to fully address the prompt. To improve, you must expand your arguments with relevant examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay uses basic paragraphing and some cohesive devices like 'on the one hand' and 'in conclusion'. However, the logical progression is weak. The connection between the prompt (the arts) and your argument (government jobs and references) is unclear, making the overall flow difficult to follow. Referencing is often imprecise, and the transition between ideas is mechanical. To improve, focus on ensuring each paragraph directly supports the main thesis and use a wider variety of linking words to connect your sentences more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'peoples' (which is grammatically incorrect in this context) and 'reference'. There is little attempt to use academic or topic-specific vocabulary related to the arts. Many phrases are awkward, such as 'there is a mat' and 'non experience peoples'. To improve, you should learn collocations related to the arts and professional success, and avoid repeating the same simple words throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
There are frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Talent are should be focus', 'the advantage are higher'), incorrect word forms ('non experience peoples'), and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are simple and often fragmented. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, which is necessary for higher band scores. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and plural forms.
