Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you identify the 'anyone can do it' attitude, the supporting arguments are often vague or lack logical depth. For instance, the discussion on music subgenres is somewhat tangential and does not clearly link back to the core issue of talent versus fame. The examples provided, such as mentioning specific artists, are relevant but are not explained in a way that fully supports your argument. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed point that directly answers the prompt's question regarding why genuine talent is undervalued.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear transitions. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'In the past' and 'However'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of your argument. For example, the transition between the discussion of social media and the evolution of music genres is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each sentence flows naturally from the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate to convey the basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band score. There are several instances of awkward word choices and non-standard collocations, such as 'incomplete creators', 'brick and brick music', and 'increasing person taste dependent'. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To reach a higher level, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary in context and pay closer attention to collocations—words that naturally go together in English. Expanding your range of academic vocabulary will help you express your ideas with greater clarity and impact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Everyone seek', 'people does not like'), incorrect verb tenses, and punctuation errors. These errors are noticeable and sometimes make the text difficult to parse. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect pluralization would also be beneficial.
