Student answer (Band 5.0)

In recent times, it has been observed that in some nations there is a belief that anyone can do it in the arts which consequently led to pool of untalented to become successful in that industry and the talent is undervalued. I strongly disagree that there is an attitude that anyone can do it in arts - music, literature, acting, art and many more which has resulted to people with no talent become rich and famous and genuine talent is not valued or appreciated. To support this anyone with ambition can become an artist also successful as well as hard working

to commence with an ambition held by an individual who wants to become successful in the art industry. As long as, there is a hot desire to become something, anyone can be as such individuals take trainings talent can be developed. For instance, Ed Sheeran was among people who didn't have a talent but worked hard to get so, he trained himself so hard now he is very famous also succeeded. As a result, some people are born with talent however, others develop it. Therefore, one become successful because working hard was individual's motto.

Another perspective that cannot be denied is that hard working can make people develop what no one thinks can be done. For example, my cousin Calem wanted to be an actor but didn't have talent which he took acting classes and now he is an upgraded actor. Consequently, hard work can uplift individual to another level of expansion. Thus, the talent can be boosted that should not mean that the talent is less appreciated.

In conclusion, talent can be developed and anyone with an ambition to become an artist should not be stopped.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt but struggles with clarity and logical development. While you state a position, the supporting arguments are repetitive and rely on anecdotal evidence that is not fully explained. For example, the claim that 'anyone can be as such individuals take trainings' is a broad generalization that lacks depth. The essay would benefit from exploring the nuance of the prompt—whether 'genuine talent' is truly being undervalued—rather than focusing solely on the idea that hard work can lead to success. The conclusion is very brief and does not effectively synthesize the arguments presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. Phrases like 'to commence with' and 'another perspective that cannot be denied' are used, but they do not always connect the ideas effectively. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the transition between the general argument and the example of Ed Sheeran is abrupt. The use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive, and the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument's development.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise, which impacts the clarity of your arguments. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'pool of untalented to become successful' and 'upgraded actor'. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations, such as 'hot desire' instead of 'strong ambition' or 'intense passion'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the frequent errors in word formation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary would significantly improve the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as fragments and run-on sentences (e.g., 'To support this anyone with ambition can become an artist also successful as well as hard working'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are also inconsistent. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofreading for common errors like missing prepositions and incorrect verb tenses.
