Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent times, people believes that anyone can perform better in arts- music, acting, literature, art, etc. Which will have a negative impact on people with genuine talent, as it is not valued and recognised, while individuals with no talent become rich and famous. This essay will discuss the statements with relevant example and will conclude with an opinion.
To begin with, art is a particular field were people have to represent their own creativity and personal skills, which makes them different from other individuals. Several people assume that, anyone zealous in pursuing arts field or the follow their passion, it is quite easier for them because it does not require any profound theoretical knowledge, which is more convenient for an individual. Arts field require more contacts to people who already mastered the field to get better opportunities and exposure to new work.
In contrast, individual who are more talented are struggling to get enough opportunities to showcase their talent. In several countries, This field has a major drawback of favouritism, which limits the actually talented person. For instance, a son of famous actor will get more and better opportunities to work in film industry because of his father's goodwill, while the person who is selected on the basis his actual talent will not get much appreciation and will be side-lined from the cast. This will affect negatively in industry as well as the person who is genuinely talented.
In conclusion, an individual with a exception talent should be prioritized, as it will encourage more people to enhance their skill to become successful in life. I completely agree with the statement, as in several countries the system of favouritism still exists.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have identified the core issue—the tension between genuine talent and the 'anyone can do it' attitude—and provided a relevant example regarding nepotism in the film industry. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The second paragraph is slightly repetitive and lacks a strong, specific argument beyond the idea that arts require 'contacts.' To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported point that directly advances your argument rather than restating the premise.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'To begin with,' 'In contrast,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'This will affect negatively in industry,' where the antecedent of 'This' is slightly vague. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'zealous,' 'profound,' and 'favouritism.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'people believes' (subject-verb agreement), 'anyone zealous in pursuing arts field' (missing articles/prepositions), and 'exception talent' (should be 'exceptional'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('people believes'), article usage ('the arts field'), and prepositional phrases ('affect negatively in industry'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure occasionally feels clunky due to these persistent errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and article usage, as these errors occur frequently enough to distract from the complexity of your ideas.
